1.
strange little girl - the miracle workers A garage rock ballad? If it's done by The Miracle Workers, the result must be great. Enjoy these moody fuzz sounds while looking your strange little girl in the eyes. And no, it's not that Stranglers song. A 1989 Get Hip release. |
9. no such number - thee headcoats One of their very best recordings; so much anger and energy and yet only a B-side (of "Pedophile"). It reappeared 3 years later in 1995 on a Crypt sampler "Beached earls". Billy Childish hardly ever sounded better! Releasd by Clawfist, that used to be located at Portobello Road in London. |

2.
tramp gas - cee bee beaumont The North Seven Action Sound is ready for tramp gas. Distorted twisted fuzz garage punk instrumentals are what they were known and loved for. See also vol 23 for another song from this 4-track EP |
10. monkey toe - cee bee beaumont London wasn't ready for these three wild ones. They take a guitar instrumental a few lightyears beyond the remote spot it was already left behind by Billy Childish. No doubt about this: they were the best Medway punk instro kings. A Damaged Goods release from 1996. See also vols 111 and 103. |

3.
movin' on - the hoodwinks Second and last EP by this Southampton 60s beat band, released on Flycatcher in 1999. Only self-penned tunes on this one. See vol 35 for their first 45. |
11. twist, grind, rock 'n' burn - the
necessary evils Flipside to "Thrill pill", the first or second single by this band formed by ex-members of The Beguiled and Fireworks and supposedly there's also a link to The Cramps. Trashy garage punk on Crypt Records in 1997. |

4.
the unloved insane - vibrasonic Excellent psych garage on Brighton based Target Records. Very strong debut single. Also the A-side is terrific; see vol 111. |
12. the purple knif - the creatures from the
trash lagoon The song title says it all: they were Cramps fans. Remember the Purple Knif Show by Lux Interior? German Crampophiles from sin city Hamburg on this 1998 release on Sinner Records, probably their own record label. See also vol 105. |
||
5.
not the only one - the embryonics Psychedelic prog punk from this German outfit featuring a young Lutz Soundflat and Jenz Bumper. A 1992 Unique Records release. |
13. she's my bitch - the
supersuckers A live favourite and a killer singalong punk tune. They were formed as The Black Supersuckers in 1998. Redneck garage trash rock from Arizona, featuring Eddie Spaghetti. Also available on album "La mano cornuda" on Sub Pop from 1994. This live EP is also from 1994. |

6.
gone - gorilla When grunge meets psychedelic garage punk in Seattle, bands like Gorilla emerge. Heavy guitar sounds, swirling organ riffs and a pounding beat are the main ingredients of "Gone". It's the first release of Bag Of Hammers, together with Regal Select, in 1991. |
14. r u a believer - the make up Weird lo-fi post-punk tune, recorded in a Washington DC garage in 1995. My fave Make-Up song is "They live by night", loosely based on "She told me lies" by The Cynics. I saw the band live on stage only once but it was a gig I'll never ever forget! Released on the K label. |

7.
in the wind - the windowpaynes Excellent self-penned B-side on a French garage rock label, Dig!Records, but recorded in Pennsylvania, USA by duo Billy and Dave. Dave plays the guitar and Billy does the rest. See vol 111 for the other side I'm sure you'll all love. |
15. welcome to podunk holler - the phantom
creeps Last song on this 6-track EP, issued by Monkey Boy Records in 1995 by The Phantom Creeps from Austin, Texas. It's a mix garage trash with psychobilly. They love serial killers like Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole and also Ed Gein (hence their "Ed Gein's cat" from their splitsingle with The Paranoids). A Foul Play release. |

8.
we don't have time for the little things - bees 'n'
b-mice I assume this was a French outfit; they released two singles for French label Larsen Recordz, this being their first, in 1998. Straight forward garage punk from Chambéry near the French Alps. |
16. wall of death - magnitude 3 Lo-fi garage trash recorded during a massive earthquake in Japan. The girl on the bass guitar is also the singer. A 1993 Giant Claw release. See also vol 106. |
