caesars In their early days Catacombo used to play this song live on stage; it's one of Billy Childish' strongest instrumentals, Link Wray style. It's the flipside to "Baby what's wrong", issued on Empire Records in 1983. |

staccatos
Too weird, even by Twin Peaks standards,
this instrumental takes you even deeper underground to
the eternal fire. Frenchman Yvan Serrano moved from
Limoges to England and became even famous a decade later
as DJ Healer Selecta. Before this band he was in
The Blue Devils (see vol 105 for more info). |

debut single of Mad 3 featuring Eddie Legend, from 1992

11. fire of love - the charles napiers Savage yet savvy version of Jody Reynolds' "Fire of love", perhaps known to you because of the splendid Gun Club version. These 4 English guys transformed it into a fantastic wild guitar instrumental. Dan and John also were active in The Diaboliks. Like most of their released this 1995 EP was issued on One Million Dollar Records. |

big blue wave - the falling spikes Clear green wax, clearer than the colourful coral sea these guys are surfing through in 1990. A Moxie release by an Oregon band that was known for their blistering garage rock tunes; this song also appears on their great album "Teen Trash vol 10" on Music Maniac Records. |
12. loose lip sync ships - the
stingrays The Hogs aka Chocolate Watchband recorded this instrumental in 1966 for Hanna-Barbara Records. Eighteen years later Bal and Alec issued their own version as flipside to "Escalator" on Ace Records. |

14. mint sensation - the strange A wild Mod Hammond groove instrumental by a Leicester based outfit that issued at least 3 singles in the 1992-1994 period. Also check out vol 111 for another track from this 45 and vol 26 for another 45. A 1994 Detour Records release. |

intoxica - the apemen In 1964 Bob Hafner wrote this surf instrumental standard, made famous by The Revels. Dozens of surf combos all over the world played it live on stage and some also in the recording studio. The Dutch surf heroes, The Apemen recorded their vicious version in 1993 for Belgian record label Demolition Derby. |
15. the sea of stars - vibrasonic Also known as The Infidels they recorded at least two albums, also for Yep!Records. This instrumental B-side is from 1996 and also the opening track of their eponymous first album, recorded at Toe-Rag Studios. |

jazzarythm acid stomp - tony face big roll band Acid jazz instrumental written by Hammond organ player Giancarlo Rossi while Tony Face Bacciocchi was playing the drums. This Italian mod is a phenomonon. I met him several times, with and without The Link Quartet and The Hermits. See vol 82 for his work with Lilith. |
