LOOK WHAT I COULD FIND vol 101
"WILD WOMEN vol10" - 16 fierce frontal attacks by female fuzzbusters

In The Trashcan Records       GEM101
"Easy girls on ecstasy hit the shitlist; gotta go and start packing my bags..."

Rapid Pulse 1. gotta go - the dirty birds

Here are the Dirty Burds again (see also vol 42) with their 1999 Rapid Pulse 45: girlie garage punk from the UK on a US label. On vol 105 you can find one of the songs from the flipside.

9. i'm not a fucker - the no-talents

Think of Spoiled Brats, Loudmouths, Trashwomen,… and you'll love these Parisian punks on San Francisco record label Broken Rekids. Recorded in 1998.

Corduroy 2. packing my bags - the sires

Australian record label Corduroy Records released this UK garage beat outfit's hardest to find 45 in 1997 fronted by the ever lovely Domi who was also active in The Dirty Burds. See also vol 82 for their first 45.

10. easy girl - the no-talents

As if it was 1977 all over again. Amazing what Cecile Meneau did here. Later she transformed from a proud punkette to a yéyé fille de résistance when she formed Cécile & Ses Ennuis. See also vol 97 for the flipside.

3. never thought you'd leave me - the diaboliks

The Sires' best friends were The Diaboliks, also from London, who are here with Pleasure Seekers' best known garage punk anthem "Never thought you'd leave me". Dan, the guitar player, is surrounded by three wild garage punk girls, Sophie, Anja and singer Babz. The A-side can be found on vol 42.

11. shitlist - L7

Four vicious girls who formed L7 in 1992. This is the only L7 song I really love. The rest is a bit too "American punk rock for the young adult MTV watching yuppies". This B-side, also written by singer Donita Parks, was released in 1992 on Slash Records.

4. never so sad - the masonics

It's not that I don't like Mickey singing, but I prefer the songs Ludella are singing with The Masonics. Her mesmerizing, echo-laden vocals on this slow fuzz ballad are taking me back to 1964. A 1997 Super Electro Sound release. See also vols 35 and 111 for more songs by this ex-Milkshakes band.

12. shopping on the internet - bette davis & the balconettes

How trashy girls can be? Just try and listen to this "indie art trash rock" on Manchester label Baby Boom from 1997. It's like Crass discovering girlie pop garage and turning it into a vicious attack in Penis Envy style. See also vol 83 for their Big Pussy Sound.

5. clove cigarettes - pleasure heads

Singer Debi Catanzaro wrote this B-side, released on Get Hip in 1988. A-side is "Song for God". It's solid garage punk from Pittsburgh.

13. eye of the devil - the stepford five

New Zealand trash garage girl group from Christchurch who like to demolish. Hence their releases on Demolition Derby Records and this one on Demolition Records from Spain. Other fave title is "Little sisters of Satan". Released in 1991.

6. i'll never wound anything but hearts - mighty four

Japanese punky garage outfit with two guys and two girls - active in other bands like Jet Boys and Supersnazz - from Tokyo. Released on Italian record label Rockin' Bones from Parma. See also vol 107.

14. das ah riot - bush tetras

No wave art rock outfit from New York who mix punk and funk with trashy guitar sounds. These girls were often compared with bands like ESG. A 1981 release on Fetish Records from London.

7. kiss off! - the kiss offs

About 40 seconds long but enough to get your feet moving. Excellent trashy punk 'n' roll from 1997 on Texas label Peek-a-boo Records. On vol 110 you can find another 45 on the same sabel. Katey Jones sings here, while playing the keyboards.

15. oh terry! - the regents

This minimal new wave song starts and ends with a pursuit through a metro station. The Regents are known for their debut 45 "7teen" from 1979. One year later they're back with this Arista B-side of "See you later".

8. all going away - the lazy sundays

Julie Waddington is singing here on this Spanish band's second 45 release, an EP on Barcelona based Puzzle Records in 1995. Great psychedelic mod garage stomper with backwards guitar fuzz licks.

16. ecstacy girl - lola

Founded by ex-Smears Gretchen Holtz, another all-female garage combo. This comes from a 1998 releease on Valentina Records. From Bloomington, Indiana. See vol 42 for Smears info.
