1.
follow the sun - siouxsie & the banshees Another single-only track, as flipside to "Spellbound", their best 1981 recording. "Follow the sun" shows the transition from the previous dark albums and the lighter ones starting with "A kiss in the dreamhouse". This is however an outtake from their best studio album "Juju" from 1981. |
9. self destruct - anne clark Our darkness and "Sleeper in Metropolis" are her best known songs. "Self destruct", however, must not be forgotten. Clark wrote the poetic lyrics on the beat sounds of David Harrow. Issued by Virgin's daughter label 10 Records in 1985. |

2.
victim of circumstance - joan jett & the blackhearts You love her or you hate her. I have a lot of sympathy for this ex-Runaways rockin' chick. This is the B-side of the 1981 cover version of a Gary Glitter song. Yes, I love rock 'n' roll. |
10. coal mind - siouxsie & the banshees Even the A-side, "Fireworks", is quite unknown to most of us, because both songs were non-album tracks from 1982. I'm not sure if these were "Juju" outtakes or from the "A kiss in the dreamhouse" recording sessions. Such a pity nobody seems to know this one. |

3.
diamond of the desert - daisy chainsaw Sweet trashed-out 3/4 rock ballad as flip to "Love me forever" in 1994 on One Little Indian by the outfit that gave us the wonderful "Love your money" three years earlier. |
11. get you alone - the donnas In 1999 these young girls were already 6 years active; the first years as The Electrocutes. Year after year they moved from trashy punk rock towards would-be Runaways clones. "Get you alone" is the last decent release by these promising teenage girls. The flipside is "You got it" by The Toilet Boys; on Lookout! Records. |

hey mr. e! a gran grin with a shake of smile - rip rig
& panic Avantgardist collective who included anarchic punk attitude in their twisted jazz-funk, so far away from The Pop Group, the band they came from. Known for featuring big star Neneh Cherry. Before Cherry chose for a successful solo career, she and a few of the band started another combo called Float Up CP. This is from their first 45 on Virgin in 1981. See also vol 12. |
12. basket case - the loudmouths A split-EP with Aerobitch from 1998 issued by Punch Records. It contains their best song "Basket case", which is not that Green Day pseudo-punk hit single. I was DJ after their gig in Belgium and then it was obvious where their sound comes from: singer and bass player Beth is a huge Kids fan. |

5.
crossed hearts - the sires It doesn't always have to be 200 mph. "Crossed hearts" is a mean, tearjerking r&b beat blaster from their first release on Twist Records. Three more 45s would follow and also a studio album. See vol 54 for more info. |
13. jackie's never coming back - the spoiled
brats First 45 by ex-Trashwomen Elka Zolot's Spoiled Brats in 1993, released on Rip Off Records. Fantastic '77 punk trash from San Francisco. Too bad they didn't last long. Two more 45s would follow. See vol 62. |

6.
jackie chan does kung fu - thee headcoatees Again a Headcoats/Headcoatees splitsingle, this time on Damaged Goods in 1998, near the end of the band's existence. You can't but love this Medway homage to Jackie Chan. |
14. living on dreams - vice squad How simple punk rock can be… from their 1980 debut 45 on Riot City. It's the A-side while the better known "Last rockers" is one of the two tracks on the flipside. Rebecca Bond formed the punk rock group in 1978 while changing her name into Beki Bondage. See also vol 62. |

7.
please don't touch - girlschool & motorhead Written by Johnny Kidd who recorded it with his Pirates in 1959, although the very first recorded version was done by The Bachelors under production of George Martin. In 1981 Motorhead asked all-girl hardrock combo Girlschool to record an album together. This was the 45 from those sessions. Much better than the uninspiring 1992 version by The Stray Cats. |
15. i am a poseur - x-ray spex Orange wax B-side of "The day the world turned day-glo" from 1978 on EMI. Both sides were written by Poly Styrene. See vol 27 for more info about this infamous girl band. |

8.
everything - lilith Rita Oberti used to be the singer of Not Moving, an Italian band from Piacenza, with Antonio "Tony Face" Bacciocchi as drummer who later co-founded The Link Quartet. Lilith was a folk blues cabaret group with a punk attitude and released this song on the Belgian label Boom!Records in 1992. |
16. boring conversations - honey bane Great anarcho-punk tune sung by this 14-year old Donna and backed by Crass. Also released on Crass Records in 1979, together with "You can be you" and "Porno grows". See vol 12 for more info. |
