"Wild women 4" - 16 fiercest feline frenzies

In The Trashcan Records       GEM042
"Come on, girl, unleash the beast in you and get off yer high horse..."

1. i wanna jump your bones - the launderettes

First song from their very first record which earned them a gig at The Wild Weekend Festival in 2000. A month later they did a small tour in Belgium which ended in Tiki's, where I was the DJ of the house. At the end they were drunk, kissing each other, and asking "I wanna jump your bones". See vol 56 for more about this story of these wild Norwegian women.

9. i wanna be loved by you - the pebbles

I have both the regular release on Planet Pimp and the picture disc on Damaged Goods, both issued in 1993. Don't get confused by the title, it's a Pebbles original. And this band is not the Belgian 60s band. It's a Japanese all-girl garage outfit.

2. the beast in you - the godzillas

All-girl garage rock outfit from France who recorded this feel-good rocker for Wiped Out Records in 1999. All their other singles came out on Larsen Recordz.

10. get off yer high horse - the smears

The American version of Thee Headcoatees hailing from the little town of Bloomington, Indiana. The three girls recorded six tracks for this 1993 EP on Hell Yeah Records. Buy their Dionysus 10" album "Smears in the garage"… it's a classic and almost as great as The Pandoras. Bass player Gretchen Holtz was also active in Lola, The Nevermores and The Sugar Freaks. Headhunter Records also released two CDs by these wild girls.

3. my baby cries all night long - the pussycats

Yes, this is the Nancy Sinatra tune. In 1998 these ravishing Spanish beauties, Anita, Milana and Belen, recorded it for Thunderbaby Records.

11. satisfaction guaranteed - the pack bold girls

Originally recorded by The Mourning Reign this acid-punk classic is like candy in the French hands of these Pack Bold Girls, including Kennie Gomez, who already played with Les Klepstones in the 80s. This is a 1996 EP on Bricolage Records. See also vol 91.

4. it's only words - the sires

From their third 7" release and their second on Twist Records. After leaving France and her band The Turkey Necks, Domi founded The Sires with Andy Sire. They mixed r&b, garage and beat into a 90s vibe like Thee Headcoats and The Green Hornets. Released in 1997. See also vol 54.

12. young blood - thee headcoatees

A 1992 Damaged Goods release with a marvelous B-side. First performed by Thee Headcoats on their first album "Headcoats down" in 1988, right after the disbanding of Billy Childish' previous outfit Thee Mighty Caesars. These 4 girls rule in the realm of Childish' Medway country.

5. i can't sleep at night - the diaboliks

The first release of Mademoiselle Records, a label for female fronted bands. Singer of The Diaboliks was Barbara 'Babz' Hanf, who co-organized the Wild Weekend Festivals, in 1999-2004. This is a 1997 recording as flipside to a fantastic version of the Pleasure Seekers "Never thought you'd leave me".

13. love generation - the midnight men

A girl-fronted Belgian garage punk combo  from Kortrijk (the city of The Pit's). This comes from a splitsingle released by two labels, Allah!Records and Teenage, but it was also released as a single on Shakin' Street, with B-side "Bad in bed", a Wayne County & The Electric Chairs song, in 1991.

6. it's a lie - the dirty burds

The Dirty Burds feature Sires frontwoman Domi di Malacarne and three other garage punk loving girls from London. In 1998 Mademoiselle Records, a 'girl label', released this mono recording.

14. dangerous charms - the delmonas

They were the female companion band of Thee Mighty Caesars, featuring Ludella Black and Ida Red and sometimes also Louise Baker. Yes, it's Billy Childish on guitar here, with a song he co-wrote with his Milkshakes pal Mickey Hampshire. A 1985 release on Empire Records.

7. surf bunnie beach - the riddlers

Wild Wilma and Lovelide are the Riddlers' singers, a Dutch band from Utrecht. A 1996 release on Riptide Records, a division of Pornogram. Originally by The Surf Bunnies. Other surf tunes on this EP are "The Riddler", "S.X. appeal" and finally "Everybody up", which can be found on vol 85.

15. do the bug with me - the brentwoods

Telstar Records from Hoboken, New Jersey (not Hoboken, Antwerp, Belgium) released many incredible records including this one by The Brentwoods, featuring ex-Trashwomen, Danielle. These three girls were even trashier than ever. Guitar trash rock 'n' roll à la Mummies from around 1994.

8. wanted man - the monarchs

The Bulb Records flagship trashmasters who herald the sounds of every tube wonderlux mid-fi. Three lefty girl-men and one girl-girl lead you through this song of gout and laceration. From Ann Arbor, 1992.

16. full blown square - thee headcoatees

Great Billy Childish song only to be found on this release, free with Hate magazine, or on the reissue in 1995. On vol 60 you get the flipside by Thee Headcoatees.
