not the same - big bobby & the nightcaps Screaming Apple from Germany versus Vendetta from England: 1-0. Fantastic fuzz freakouts from Norfolk, Virginia in 1997. It's such a shame people don't seem to know this quartet. |
9. no girl of mine - the witch doctors Pre-Lords of Altamont garage rockers on Screaming Apple with three fantastic 60s punk tunes. "No girl of mine" was recorded in 1994. Jake Cavaliere was also active in The Bomboras and The Finks just like Gregg "Lord" Hunt and Dave Klein. |

2.
primitive urge - the coyote men One of my favourite UK labels from the 90s. In 1996 Vendetta released this 3-track 45 featuring this utterly wild garage trash tune. Only one Coyote Men song is better and I selected it for this volume too. |
10. take it off - the coyote men Vendetta Records and Real Records are two UK labels I loved a lot in the 90s. They joined for this split-EP. One side is The Superfly TNT's and the other is this masked wrestling rock combo. If you don't like masks, then "Take it off!" |

3.
i've got a curse - the worst Freaky fuzz treatment from Vancouver, Canada from theis 4-track monster on Screaming Apple. Formed in 1989, they recorded this garage killer track 3 years later. |
11. i hate the beach - the campus tramps Garage punk rock from England. I don't know why they hate the beach and surf music. A Screaming Apple release from 1997. |
||
4.
kick! - the gorgons I'm a Gorgons fan. All four tracks on this EP are 100% killer Childish infused punk garage from France. Vendetta released it in 1996. |
12. she's fine, she's mine - the gorgons Another track from their "Big hits" EP from 1996 on Vendetta. This is of course the Bo Diddley tune, an excellent version. |

5.
(don't gimme) no lip - the kravin' a's I love the Dave Berry version and hell, why not, the SexPistols' rendition. The Kravin' A's hailed from Medway centre, Chatham in Kent, England. Just look at the names: Bruce Brand, Johnny Barker, Wolf Howard and Glenn Prangnell. It's 1993 when these guys went to Liam Watson's Toe-Rag Studios. A Screaming Apple release. |
13. what do you want me to do - the cheeks Split single with the Canadian band McRackins. The power pop band The Cheeks were Germans featuring a young Lutz Rauber of the Soundflat Mailorder, well known if you are into sixties and garage music. This is a 1995 release on Screaming Apple. |
||
6.
it's all gone - the cybermen The best Cybermen release? This "Got a groove EP" from 1994 on Sean Mason's Vendetta label. "It's all gone" is not as wild as the others, but oh so good. Pure garage pop.. "Your eyes are deceivers…" |
14. rendezvous - the green hornets Their debut 45 from 1994 on Vendetta and also the label's first release. Five garage crazy guys at Toe-Rag Studios with the help of Bruce Brand. |
||
7.
you destroy me - the von zippers The Von Zippers hailed from the Canadian Rockies, Calgary. This was their second release, before they were signed to Estrus Records. Screaming Apple released this in 1997. Great organ trash garage. |
15. treat me right - the bobbyteens Trashwomen Tina and Danielle with Lisa and also Russ Quan (from The Mummies) are here at the end of the century with their 3rd or 4th single, this time on the German label Screaming Apple. |
||
8.
it ain't easy - the queen hornets The Queen Hornets were The Green Hornets with Jane and Susan as singers. It's their sole release from 1995 on Vendetta. The garage stomper was written by guitarist Craig Boyd. |
16. i hate this world - thee cybermen And here's the best track from this 4-song EP by this underrated trio. Medway punk in the best Billy Childish tradition. Of course it's been recorded at Toe-Rag Studios by Liam Watson. End score of this international game: Screaming Apple vs Vendetta: 8-8. |
